Oral B 7400 or the Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 power toothbrush for your children?
We now take the competition between the Oral B electric toothbrush company and the Sonicare electric toothbrush company to the children’s division. In a head to head battle, the Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 power toothbrush takes on the Oral B 7400.
In this Electric Toothbrush Ratings competition, I am just going to get to the core of the decision and explain the reasoning. If you want to read the individual features and ratings of each, check out for the Oral B 7400 and the Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 power toothbrush.
The funny thing about this electric toothbrush comparison is that we are focusing on children’s oral care but one of the toothbrushes isn’t even marketed for children. That’s right, the Oral B 7400 isn’t even designed for use by kids but as we mentioned in the review, it is fully capable of being used by pre-teens and teens. The Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 power toothbrush on the other hand, is designed for children and even those with braces.
Should be a plain and simple decision right? Wrong, the Oral B 7400 wins this competition hands down, for good reason too. The main reason is its hard to have an effective toothbrush when it stops working after a couple weeks, as did the Xtreme e3000 for me. The other reasons involve the Oral B 7400 brush head, the small rounded brush head is able to surround each tooth individually, is comfortable for children, and even gets into the difficult to reach areas that braces bring.
Sonicare also claims that its dynamic cleaning action which delivers 31,000 strokes per minute will create a sonic wave that will sweep away any plaque and food debris between teeth and braces. Make no mistake, it is effective at doing so, but with the Oral B 7400 delivering over 40,000 strokes per minute, the sonic wave the Sonicare makes must be more like a sonic tsunami with the Oral B electric toothbrush, devastating any plaque and debris in its path.
So although the Oral B 7400 isn’t designed for children, I feel it is completely suitable for them. It’s small brush head makes it comfortable for those with tiny mouths, effectively removes plaque and keeps teeth clean, and most importantly, is fun to use to help develop proper brushing habits with your children.
Electric Toothbrush Ratings final judgment: I recommend the Oral B 7400 as an effective electric toothbrush for your children by a wide margin over the Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 power toothbrush.
